Church Covenant
Having given ourselves to God, by faith in Jesus, and having adopted the Word of God as our rule of faith and practice, we give ourselves to one another in this solemn covenant.
As members of the German Seventh-Day Baptist Church, we will endeavor, both corporately and individually, to “live … worthy of the Lord and … please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10). To that end…
- We will endeavor always to “glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:6).
- We will endeavor always to “encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
- We will endeavor always to “become blameless and pure, children of God without fault” (Philippians 2:15).
As our church constitution states, we will also “bear equally, according to [our] ability, the necessary expenses of the church, and shall attend, when practical, all the meetings of the church with punctuality and diligence, especially those on the [seventh-day] Sabbath [established by our Lord] and those for the transaction of business.”
“God, who has called [us] into fellowship…is faithful”
